Welcoming Saundra Neperud

By Matt Side - March 22, 2023

Join us in welcoming Saundra to our ONE Family. She's well-traveled and cultured, what an interesting lady! We asked her a few questions to get to know her better in a Q&A format;

𝗤: What is your favorite thing to do in Spokane

𝗔: We love walking around the city, it's actually what gave us the idea to move here. We first came to Spokane for a weekend away at the casino and stopped downtown and were amazed at the architecture. We love all the interesting buildings downtown as well as the gorgeous historic houses in many of the neighborhoods. We also enjoy walking through Riverfront Park and along the Centennial Trail.

𝗤: What is your favorite place to visit?

𝗔: Last year we headed up to Green Bluff at least once a month. We love picking the fresh fruit ourselves, checking out all the cool restaurants on the farms, and the corn mazes.

𝗤: What do you enjoy doing the most when not at work?

𝗔: I love gardening and have a background in environmental education, so I'm combining those interests in my ongoing home project of replacing all our sod with native plants and low-water landscaping. This is good for birds and pollinators (bees and butterflies) as well as being much more beautiful and interesting than plain old grass. Low-water landscaping is an emphasis of the Water Wise Spokane project led by the City of Spokane so they've been offering classes and advice to help people like me get started.

𝗤: What is your market niche?

𝗔: I have my Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation and work with the 55+ market. I teach classes on downsizing and home buying at the Corbin Senior Recreation Center and have built a network of professionals providing services for the senior population.

My target area is my own neighborhood - Emerson Garfield. We could have bought a house anywhere in Spokane and chosen this neighborhood to call home. Houses tend to be more affordable than in many areas of Spokane, it's a walkable neighborhood with Corbin Park and the restaurants and businesses on both North Monroe and the Garland District all easily accessible by foot. And it's a short bicycle ride (on dedicated bike lanes) to get to downtown Spokane and the Centennial Trail.

𝗤: What is your favorite type of home?

𝗔: Craftsman has long been my favorite home type. I love the craftsmanship (which is of course how they got their name) of the woodwork throughout these houses. They have beautiful built-in cabinetry, central fireplaces flanked by bookshelves, and the large covered porches spanning the front of the houses. I'm a big proponent of "porch culture" (sitting on the front porch and chatting with your neighbors as they walk by). Luckily, Spokane and the Emerson Garfield neighborhood have lots of craftsman houses.

𝗤: Anything else you would like to share?

𝗔: I've had two jobs that included playing the tambourine, one that included milking a cow and I once predicted Old Faithful's eruptions as a volunteer ranger in Yellowstone.

I've lived in 13 states, the Navajo and Hopi Reservations and in Thailand and chose to make Spokane, Washington my home.

Before becoming a Realtor ® we owned and ran a hotel in Mid-coast Maine.
